The (Wind) Power of Clear Communicaton

Wind turbines, especially offshore ones, are complex and can reach heights of up to 200 meters. Maintaining them is time-consuming and comes with safety risks, therefore clear communication to the mainland is crucial for safe and efficient operation. A wind turbine is usually serviced once or twice a year and the maintenance of a single offshore wind turbine takes at least one day.

Communication challenges arise due to limited network coverage at sea. However, we can address this with permanently installed Intercom stations at the turbine's base, nacelle, and platforms, as well as through interfaces for radio and telephone connections. The seamless integration of digital radio systems such as Tetra or DMR enables effective communication with maintenance teams, ships, helicopters, and rescue services.

Our solutions ensure fast and clear connections between the control desk, maintenance staff, and substations using different communication channels. This enhances daily work efficiency and enables quick responses to emergencies. All calls to the sea channel as well as to the own teams can be controlled centrally from one device. For example, the control centre can use an interface to inform a fishing boat that is in a danger zone via radio.

This way, safety and efficient communication on offshore wind farms can be guaranteed at all times. For more information, including info about our marine or EX-certified Intercom stations, take a look at our Solution Folder:
